Computers will be the death of me!

27/04/2009, 27/04/2009
I have decided if the Swine Flu doesn't kill me computers will.
The day started of great, we went down to our friends to update our computer software on the ibooks on a fast connection. All went well, very well actually using their wi- fi.
Came home tried to get onto the internet using my dongle...crash..11 times!
I think the update of the security programme is now blocking it, even just plugging it into the USB crashes the system. We have given up and I have reverted to the PC!
They say these things are sent to try us and they have.
Tomorrow we are off to Oban, Ray to catch up with Trudi and me to catch up with some friends from Carlisle who are going out to Tiree to visit their daughter who has recently moved out there.
We have had a busy weekend again, people...cards and the odd glass or two!

The 8bn illegal war.

24/04/2009, 24/04/2009
Now here is an interesting figure, we have spent in excess of 8 billion pounds so far on an illegal war in Iraq, only a drop in the ocean compared with the billions we are having to borrow. It is indicative however of the way our present government has determined it's priorities and stewardship over the taxpayers money. Daily we hear of squandered millions on failed initiatives, failed polices and I may add failed so called terror raids.
There is also something else that puzzles me, I admit I may be thick and missing something but here is my question. We borrow billions to bail out failing banks, now I thought that once they are back on their feet they would be paying us and the interest back as Northern Rock has done in part. So if we are to get this money back from the banks why is this chain of debt going round our necks for the next decade and not the banks?....or are the government going to get it back twofold?
I know some of the money we are borrowing is to kick start the economy but the majority of this vast amount has gone into the banking system.
To change the subject, I see some schools in England are to close for non Christian holidays like Ramadan.....I thought the word was TOLERANCE not DOMINANCE.

Hitting the panic button.

21/04/2009, 21/04/2009
So Gordie's woken up and hit the panic button. The devil however will be in the detail. They are to get a daily allowance for just turning up at work, for the rest of us it's called a wage! Nobody can deny them expenses for working and living away from home but you must admit there would have been no U turn on U Tube had they not been rumbled......it will be an interesting vote.
Peace reigns and all is quiet, Dougal is still a bit down in the mouth as he still sniffs around looking for Bengi.
We have enjoyed glorious sunshine over the past few days giving us quite a lift with our afternoon bevy on the deck.

Back to normal......whatever that is!

19/04/2009, 19/04/2009
The boy and his dad have gone, yes dad turned up yesterday and off they went fishing.
All around is quiet again. The last few days, particularly Friday was very stressful and emotional as our friend Dot lost Bengi. Dougal is still sniffing around looking for him. Supporting people seems to take up a great part of our lives just now, but that is what friendship is all about.....walking the walk no matter what. I am sure our time will come and that can be even harder being the independent people we are.
So tonight I will have to make my own coffee, put my own electric blanket on as our wee helper has gone. He is well past the age of having to be entertained all the time, just as well as our energy levels are low.
The sun has split the skies today and we have made the most of it.

Who Cares?

16/04/2009, 16/04/2009
So GB has brought up all his cronies for a Cabinet Meeting in Glasgow, who cares and more to the point who PAYS?
I also note that a parliamentary investigation into the Damian Green affair has found that Senior Civil Servants hyped up the claim against him to goad police into investigating him and raiding his office without a warrant. Here's me thinking Civil Servants are impartial.....silly me!
They say Power corrupts, well it certainly does when it comes to this government just take these sleazy e-mails as an example.
Is this really the kind of government we want to represent us. I hope the Bedfordshire MP does sue because only then will we get to the bottom of all this sleaze and who is ultimately responsible.....not that we can't guess!
With 'stuff' like this coming from those who would deign to rule us, no wonder the word 'respect' has lost it's meaning in most other areas. Who is there left to respect?....the church..hmmmmm. They seem to be pretty silent in these matters.
