I wonder how many of you watched Songs of Praise the other night? The program celebrated 50 years of music by Sir Cliff during which he was interviewed by Sally Magnusson.
The inevitable question about his sexuality came up as it has done over the years.
What he is or is not makes no difference to me but the way he answered or didn't answer the questions intrigued me.
He appears to enjoy playing a game with the media on this issue and thus invites speculation.....is that not being just a wee bit dishonest?
By law it is illegal to discriminate against anyone who is gay, however for many that box has not yet been ticked especially in Evangelical circles.
Most of his fans are older Christians so IF he was gay and 'came out' how would they react?
Would they get together and make a sacrificial bonfire out of all his CD's....I think not. Would they feel let down....maybe....would it challenge their own faith....maybe.
As I said before I know not, but like most folk hold a private opinion.
My question still stands is it better to be honest or go on inviting controversy?
Maybe a postscript will be added to his book after he dies!!!!

A boost for Alex in his fight to change the tax system in Scotland.
It has emerged...from the Conservatives in England...oops another mole! that Labour have big changes in mind to re-evaluate properties. Sit down before you read this!!!
Things that will push the value of your house up are;
1. A Conservatory.
2. A Greenhouse.
3. A Tree House!!!!
4. Proximity to a field and/or any open view.
5. Having a garden.
Now the government have said these plans have been shelved until after the next election.....so just hold that thought in the back of your mind until the next time you have you vote.
A fairly peaceful day today before the rest of the week.

Last Sunday I was lying in my pit listening to Aled Jones, he was talking to a Monk and asking what they would be doing during the run up to Christmas. His answer caught my imagination.
He explained how they would be having sessions where they would just sit and read a piece of Scripture over and over again.
Why? asked Aled, the Monk went on to explain that as you read a piece of Scripture over and over again, instead of you asking questions of it....it begins to ask questions of you!!
Dare we have a go?
I remarked a few weeks ago about someone who said this world recession could be an opportunity for mankind to get their priorities back into balance.
I firmly believe the less we have in this life the more grateful and more generous we become.
Have a good day.

There was a time when I knew without doubt what foods upset my stomach and caused acid reflux, sadly these days there are very few foods that don't.
It seems nearly all medication has it's down sides. For the past 5yrs I have been on medication for Arthritis. If I don't take it my knees and hands seize up, if I do my stomach gets shot to bits......I can't win.
The so called Herbal wise men would tell me ginger is good for Arthritis, maybe it is but it sure ain't good for my stomach as the acid comes roaring back...thank God for Gaviscon!!
The temperatures are plummeting again tonight but the days are lovely as the sun shines over the hills covered in snow.
As I look out of the window each day at God's creation I am comforted by the thought that He who created this world and all in it will take of it.....so there is no need to worry...we are in good hands.

I see two Councils in Wales are to start using Lie Detectors in order to combat Benefit fraud....I could think of a more appropriate place to use them!!!!
Winter has certainly been biting these past few days, it is quite amusing when the temperature rises to 1C and we all remark how much warmer it is!!....if it rises much more we will be kidding ourselves that Spring has arrived.
Friends have wandered in and out all afternoon and we have invented a new drink called 'Ginka'....I will leave you to work that one out....and it's not the obvious.
