Recovery is well on the way and Ray is at the Mitchell today helping others with their family research. My own journey on that road has taken a giant leap forward. Ray found a note posted on a search site asking for details about an Ann Pigg who is of course my Gt Grandmother's sister!
I am now in touch with the lady who posted this note and who knows we may even meet up one day and swap notes. Family history is a strange thing we become more obsessed with our dead relatives than we do with the live ones!!!
We all seem to have a need to know where we came from....our roots, and it's not necessarily an age thing. But I suppose these people have made us who we are today....with a few adjustments!!!!
Maybe it is also the need to feel part of a family again, especially if our parents are no longer with us....it's the need to 'belong'
I was born in Canada but felt no sense of belonging there when I returned for a visit a few years ago and although brought up in Dumfriesshire my real love has always been Cumbria. I am beginning to understand why.
Yet this is only one root, others are Lancashire and the London/Kent area.
The sun is shinning here in Argyll again today, am thinking about a trip to the Trossachs over the w/end to capture the Autumn colours before the winds arrive.

Yesterday was one of those days when visitors kept popping in all day.....accompanied by their muts!, much to Dougal's delight and ours to.
Today was D Day! I am now back home slurping through my food!....or lack of it.
Post Extraction Instructions include...No alcohol...no smoking and NO VIGOROUS EXERCISE....as if I would!! so I guess it will be a normal afternoon!!
In a wee....very wee almost unnoticed article in the Observer today I read that Senior Officials in Israel are discussing the possible division of Jerusalem with Palestine!......and who said prophecy was dead and buried!!

Saturday was one of those days when with only one foot out of bed I had decided to head south for the w/end and catch up with the family and hopefully an old school friend.
By lunch time I was sitting with the kids catching up with all their school news and being assaulted by Deano!!....the friendly pooch the size of a small pony!!
On Sunday afternoon I escaped to Langholm for the afternoon to catch up with an old school friend not seen for long time. Marshall decided not to accompany me because being with TWO old folks for the afternoon was just too much!
We are hoping to organize a school reunion for the intake of 1961 at Langholm Academy....in the top class of course!!....I have heard that these things can be traumatic for some, so much thought as to the content of the evening must be given. It would be nice to hear something from everyone but not allow it to become competitive.....after all what is success?...to me success is not about money or how far up the corporate ladder you got or how big your company pension is, but rather what kind of a person you have become.
Last night was NOT a good night....first lesson learned...DO NOT sleep in the bottom bunk when up above you is grandson No2 who tends to be sick in the middle of the night!!...no more detail required!!
Home now and feet up!.....dentist tomorrow.

I was commenting the other day about how unusual it was to see so many boats in the water at this time of year. Then this morning we awoke to this view.
With hardly a breath of wind in the air she took a long time to get on her way.
Another sunny day looms but unfortunately we are unable to make the most of it as it is also one of those dentist days!!

The murky weather did not deter our visitors who came from various parts of the region...much talking...laughter and food were the order of the day.
The day started of with an amusing story from Italy.. courtesy of Aled Jones on the radio. There is a group of Nuns.....I say group but in fact there are only three left in the Convent! whom the Bishop wants to close down...why?.....well the fact that they've just had a punch up could be part of the reason!
The Mother Superior is in hospital with cuts and bruises having been thrown to the ground by another Sister!..so at the moment only one remains and she is refusing to budge until God himself tells her to go!!!
I also find Wendy Alexander's pal Jackie Bailie pleading for more money quite amusing to......they did after all make the rules in the beginning......talk about your chickens coming home to roost!!
If there is an Election in November....were out of here!!!
