Wars and rumours of wars.

I see GB is at it again, there seemed to be a consensus on BBC Newsnight that he really does mean to bomb Iran before he goes. I often wonder who writes his speeches and just who is leading him by the nose!
Iran is a problem there is no doubt about that, but should it not be dealt with on an international basis and not go it alone George Bush. It seems to me that the regime at the White House think they are above all the rest of us and thus able to dictate to the world what will and will not happen.
This a far removed from the ordinary American guy you meet on the street, yes they have a sense of national pride but then most of us do, but that does not translate into we are the best so we can do as we please.
It is time for a change of regime I think. Whatever Bill Clinton's faults were basically he was a good decent caring guy and still is.

On my journey home on Saturday I had the company of two ladies from Kent who were heading for a wedding in Galashiels at 2pm that day.
They were seasoned travellers who seemed to travel the length and breadth of the country on public transport staying at Youth Hostels. They liked to talk!!!! and I very soon got their life history AND current family problems!
I also discovered very early into the conversation that they belonged to a Charismatic church in Ramsgate. They didn't actually offer up that information to begin with, but I deduced it from the church/relationship problems they were having.....so I asked them outright!!!....as I would!
Charismatic churches unfortunately attract problem people and they never seem to know how to handle them, so people end up getting hurt.... things haven't changed I see!
There is a big difference between supporting people and allowing them to become dependent on you or even worse take over your life.
People management is a learned skill and should not be confused with 'Love thy neighbour'! also feeling sorry for someone and acting on that feeling can end up as a disaster, because feelings go, especially when you realize you are being used!
The greatest gift is Love but a close second is Wisdom!

The Long Way Round or The Border Tour !

25/08/2007, 25/08/2007
I have been down in Cumbria this w/end taking Marshall back home and leaving my Discovery for Dougie to sell for me...which he has already....I should have stayed longer!
I decided to try my bus pass out and try and get home for nothing!!!!....mission accomplished!....mind you it took me 7.5hrs!
The journey however was very pleasant evoking many memories as the bus wound it's way through the Borders passing through Canonbie, Langholm and onward to Edinburgh.
It must be some 40yrs+ since I came into Edinburgh on the old Dalkeith Rd so buildings like the Royal Infirmary were all new to me, it took me quite a while to get my bearings. The city was buzzing with it being the last weekend of the Festival.
Next time I do this I will stop of in Hawick for an hour and visit our favourite butcher who makes wonderful Haggis Lasagne! and of course their own world renowned Haggis.
Having had children with us for the last four weeks our home is very quiet tonight.....we miss them but welcome the peace and quiet again, it will take time to recuperate but not long to return to our ever busy lives, a visit from a friend from Luing beckons this week and two invites out to eat already.....have I the stamina I ask myself. All I want to do at the moment is sleep!

A cooler canny day!

A welcome breeze arrived today.....a good drying day as my granny would say.....now a granny myself I find myself repeating her words.
Another day another child gunned down. I am so glad I am not a parent today, it's bad enough being a grandparent and trying to influence the minds of youngsters today. Their whole way of thinking can be so alien to us at times......but then did our parents not think the same of us?......mine did!
One thing my parents did for me was to send me to Sunday School even though they themselves did not go to church! there is no doubt in my mind that it was there I got my grounding. They say you never forget the things you learn as a child....for a while I did! in my rebellious early teenage days but the seed had been sown and was soon to take root. There are truths and there are eternal truths, they never die.
We live in uncertain times, but this I know we cannot blame God when a young boy is gunned down.....God only comes when He is both asked and wanted and we as a nation have said No Thanks and will go on reaping the consequences.
Maybe as individuals we have a relationship with God but we are constantly touched and injured by the evil around us...life hurts.
