Why Oh Why?

Listening to the news these days just depresses me.Why oh why are we putting our own armed forces in so much danger in a country that is hell bent on destroying itself? Why do we delude ourselves that we have actually done any good over there?....we are throwing billions and billions into Iraq not to mention lost lives when the state of our own country is rapidly declining.
We were unable to respond to the floods in England to a satisfactory level because our forces were so over stretched.
Law and order has gone down the tube, the police say the problems start at home.....I partly agree but hey what do you expect when even raising your voice to your children these days can be followed up by a visit by the police... and smack them if you dare.
Politicians need to rethink this whole thing of discipline if they want to stop the decline in our society and actually let parents take control again. Now I know some parents went over the top in the past causing abuse but these cases can and still should be dealt with.
Children today know their rights and boy how they play on them.
To people have died this week facing up to the yob and gang culture....some parents might be to blame but other's may be struggling because so called child experts think they know best.
Rights only apply when consequences are also applied

A new experience!

15/08/2007, 15/08/2007
There was a time when my grandson hated walking round shops, this year however he has decided he likes buying his own clothes.....with his own money I may add!.....I can go with that!
Xscape was booked up so we have booked Marsh in for Saturday morning as we will be spending the w/end in town once again.
Herself was back at the dentist yesterday and this time she did remember all of the Lord's Prayer......well they do say practice makes perfect!...the stress levels were pretty high needless to say!....it will soon be my turn to panic!
Back to politics, I would encourage anybody interested in the future of Scotland to join in the big conversation following the launching of the White Paper Yesterday....no matter what your thoughts are.

Seek and ye shall find!

Today I have been found!..by an old school friend, actually I was also found by someone else recently but I didn't and still don't remember the name. It turns out however that she is living with an old flame of mine down in Yorkshire. I suspect she only contacted me to tell me that...sad people!
Today's contact however is very welcome and a visit I must make next time in Langholm.....one of three! My visits to Carlisle are usually overnight affairs so I must make the effort to stay longer and catch up with old friends.....maybe then I will write my memories of school days......some hope of that! as hard as I try nothing positive ever comes to mind! Maybe Sandra will change that.
Tomorrow I am taking Marshall to Escape for another heart stopping photo shoot!
The trees and grasses are dying back, there's a chill in the air and I am still waiting for summer.

More memories.

13/08/2007, 13/08/2007
Well what else is there to do on a wet day? I have been busy over the past two days writing up my childhood memories of our visits to Gilalees, a farm up on the Bewcastle Fells in Cumbria.
Fortunately a couple of years ago when I was in the area I was able to zoom in from the main Newcastle to Carlisle road and take some photo's.I then had to search for images on the web to give a flavour of the kind of times we had there.
Of course one memory sparks off another.....and so we go on!
The full edition of these memories will be posted on Mise when finished to accompany my Canonbie ones.

In the name of God........is it really I ask myself.

A trip to Greenock for a swim and a jacuzzi was a day well spent. On the way back the bus was held up by a Orange March!, crawling along as the bands passed by gave me a chance to 'eyeball' some of these people with only a glass window between.
They came from parts near and far including NI to play their music and make their statement. I hate bigotry no matter which side engages in it.
As I looked into the eyes of these people I found them to be menacing and intimidating. No-one smiled, their faces blank....serious business indeed.
The message.....well I'm not sure.
As long as these marches continue there will always be an under current of hate lying within the political agreements of convenience.
We are told much about tolerance these days, but tolerance is not acceptance. Tolerance says 'I will put up with you because I have to'..... acceptance says 'Who and what you are is okay with me' and the two could not be further apart!
