Usually the phrase "out with the old and in with the new" means it is is a New Year. Today however it meant a change over at the top......at least in Downing St......is this a good time to pop a cork I ask myself or are we only in for more of the same but with a dour face at the helm?
Another change has been the weather, as rain continues to fall South of the Border bringing havoc to the lives of thousands of people we here in Scotland have had frost and snow in some places.......it is mid-summer isn't it?
It is however good weather for pottering around outside....even derusting bikes!....which in turn means there is a glimmer of hope in the exercise stakes!....did I say hope?.. maybe the word dread would be better!!!

Yesterday found me sitting nearly all afternoon listening to a new programme on the radio called Scotland's top 100!...the audience are meant to phone in and ask for their all time favourite Scottish song or tune to be played. Over the next 4weeks a top 100 will emerge. So there I sat toe tapping all afternoon...HOW SAD IS THAT!!!.....mind you Runrigg did feature.
The other option was to watch our departing PM hand over the reigns to GB and that was definitely not on the cards! There are those who would like GB to call a snap election as he himself wasn't actually voted in....but he won't...why? Because he is going to have to woo the Scottish voters back into the fold before he will dare, just in case he looses his seat.....now wouldn't that be funny!!
Looking at the weather down South it would appear that there will be no hose pipe bans this summer! Poor Kev as he slogs it out across Dartmoor for 2wks....I think they are playing at being soldiers!!!

Looking back over the years we have always tried to make the most of the longest day, so why should yesterday be any different?
The most difficult part of the day was finding somewhere new to go!!....but we did and of to Peebles we went, down through the rolling hills of the Borders.
We then ended up at Rosslyn Chapel.....my only comment today is "Yesterday I touched evil"......but even that experience in itself reminded me that I still have the gift of discernment!
We then headed for Stirling to avoid the congestion in Glasgow and had fish& chips at our favourite cafe before skirting round the coming storm gathering in the hills of Perthshire.
A very full day out!

Me thinks this boy still has some growing to do!!
On the topic of putting ones foot in it.....I suppose another way of saying it is..."what goes around, comes around". A certain young lady...{and I'm being generous in the use of the word "lady"!}..in Carlisle is about to find out the hard way that you can't get away with using children to use and abuse others. It is called Psychological Abuse and for that she will now be denied any physical contact with her children with the full backing of Social Services.
It is not often these days we hear of stories where Social Services actually get it right for once, but Oxford SS have come up trumps with an excellent Social Worker and right and truth have won the day.

I have over the past few weeks deliberately put 'politics' to the back of my mind, but as the AGM of the SSCUP creeps upon us I am having to dig deep to find some enthusiasm!
The picture in my mind is that of a balloon wafting around in the air, next Friday someone is sure to burst it and all the bits will drop to the floor. This may be no bad thing for it will be those who have vision for the future who will pick up those pieces and build something new.
Having a vision is one thing, being prepared to bring it into being is another.
