I don't usually have the TV on in the morning but this morning I sat in bed having my breakfast and watched part of the Jeremy Kyle show. They were discussing Scottish Home Rule! The general consensus was that it would be bad for the UK to break it up....bad for who I wonder.
They talked about the 'smallness' of Scotland and it's depleting oil reserves....on the subject of 'smallness' does not the EU embrace that? and what about Ireland.....having been there recently and seen the huge investment being poured into the country, I think Scotland would do very well thank-you. On the subject of the oil....well we all know who ran away with that, which bolstered up their economy thank-you very much! Anyway who actually knows how much oil there is out there.
For me personally the biggest gain would be in the Political arena. No doubt initially the SNP's would rule the roost but other parties would emerge whether it be Labour or Conservative it matters not, what does matter is they would not have there strings pulled by London.....they too would be Independent!!

Have you ever been in a place or situation where you find yourself asking the question 'am I dreaming' or 'is this really happening?'.....I found myself thinking like that last night.....in church!!
Having been up the night before with Ray not being well I slept in and missed the morning service so decided to try the evening one. I'm not sure what I expected..certainly not sitting in a semi circle spending time in worship and prayer.....Is this really the Church of Scotland or am I back at the Fellowship in Carlisle!!!......have I come full circle?.....well not quite, there is an order and peace about these evenings...not experienced before! Either I have changed and am more laid back or I have complete confidence in Alister's leadership. Either way it was a little bit of heaven!!
Today we have to attend to the mundane job of food shopping so it is off to Morrison's at Dumbarton.

No I'm not talking about us!!.....I'm talking about the Scottish Labour Conference being held in Oban......I'm still wondering why Oban.....could it have been there's a distillery in town!!!
Anyway I see all three heavy weights, ie. Tony Blair....Gordon Brown and John Reid no less were all brought in to bash the Scottish Nationalist's what an honour to the SNP party!!!!.....Labour really are running scared.....does Tony Blair not realise that he is so unpopular that people are now likely to vote for the SNP for the sheer hell of it!!!
On the other subject of weight....being us or rather me!.....another 3 prs of trousers have bitten the dust and a Blazer worn once for about 10mins which was bought at a sale reduced from £90 to £9!! Shirts now have to be worn inside trousers to give me and them some kind of shape!!....this has all got to be good...but sadly is not helping the Arthritis in my hands which are very painful and stiff at the moment.

My faith in the C/E is being restored!....well done to the Archbishop Of Canterbury for taking on BA and winning!!
Good news also for those on the Rosneath Peninsula who use the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry....we are about to get a brand new one.....Disabled friendly. We had a good visit across the water yesterday....so easy and so accessible. Found a couple of great pubs where the food looks excellent.
My family tree had us up till well after 2am last night trying to make the Wilson connection!.....success. Now I have to find where some of these folks were buried. Our visit to Carlisle next month will incorporate a day at the records office in the Castle.
Today has been a tidying up day......well we have to occasionally!!!!!.....when we have time!!

Blue sky and no wind has tempted us out and across the Clyde on the wee Kilcreggan ferry......I hope there isn't a sudden change in the weather as there was yesterday!!!
I find the story of the defected Russian spy who died last night fascinating but also very scary.......scary because no-one knows what has indeed killed him. This suggests that somewhere out there new poisons are still being made in the world of espionage.
There may be outwardly peace amongst the nations but on a deeper level grave suspicion and mistrust....so nothing has really changed.
As we approach Christmas at an uncanny pace! we tend at this time of year to pray for peace throughout the world and in some parts we do manage to negotiate an albeit temporary cease fire......but is Peace REALLY possible?......according to prophecy there will be no peace until Christ returns....and after that for a short time all hell will break out again until the end. So my question is Why does the bible command Christians to pray for peace.....has this something to do with their own growth rather than the actual outcome.
Peace doesn't just happen it has got to be worked at and often the hardest place to keep peace is within our own families....yes we can make a difference there....but world wide....I wonder.
