Backing off
15/12/2005, 15/12/2005 - Opinions
My secretary is typing this for me while I have a cup of coffee. It's good to have a secretary.
I'm a TOG.On today's programme the subject of pause for thought was knowing when to back off from situations. There was a time in my life when backing off was not in my nature. Everything had to be resolved there and then. But with age comes wisdom and the ability to back off and allow others to work through their own dilemmas and problems. It's much less stressful. But I suppose there is a danger of using that as an excuse to opt out pf what might be seen as caring. So it's all in the balance.
The secret is, sit back, have a cup of coffee and think about the motives for getting or not getting involved.

Walking towards my sunset!
13/12/2005, 13/12/2005
The home page of my new website..( thanks Evan) shows a photogragh of a sunset. Like it or not I will be a pensioner next year. To me very often the most spectacular time of the day is the sunset, so as I walk towards my own sunset, slowly I hope! I want to share those special moments and a lifetimes wisdom with others.
I hope you will join me, have a laugh, shed a tear and become part of it.

Double Standards
10/12/2005, 10/12/2005 - Opinions
I read in yesterday's paper that our government and that of the USA are deliberately obstructing an enquiry into the theft of a very large amount of money in Iraq. The reason being the suspect is their chosen candidate for the leadership of that country, so all investigations MUST be postponed until after the elections. And I thought George Bush was a right wing evengelical Christian! ......more like honour amongst thieves!
